Matt Kovachik has served as an Assistant Coach at Delbarton for the past nine years, primarily working with the defense and goalies. During this time, Delbarton has won five NJSIAA State Championships, five Morris County Championships and has been recognized every year by Inside Lacrosse and Laxpower as one of the strongest teams in the nation. In 2009, Matt was recognized by his peers as the New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year. For the past four years, Matt has also served as the President of the New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association. Currently he serves as Vice President of the NJILCA and Vice President of the North New Jersey Chapter of US Lacrosse. During the summer, Matt serves as the Director of Coaching for the New Jersey Elite Lacrosse program.

Prior to arriving at Delbarton, Matt served as the Assistant Coach at Sacred Heart University for three years and the University of Vermont for two years. While at Sacred Heart University, Coach Kovachik’s defensive unit was ranked second in Division I Lacrosse in Man-down effectiveness (82.6%). Before entering the Division I ranks, Matt was the Head Junior Varsity Coach at Fairfield Prep in Connecticut.

As a player, Matt played scholastically at Fairfield Prep (Ct.) and went on to be a four year letter winner Hartwick College. As a midfielder and tri-captain for Hartwick, the team won three Upstate New York ECAC Tournaments.
