ATHLETES PLAY HERE BECAUSE COACHES SEARCH HERE —
National Lacrosse Combine has created the most comprehensive and cutting-edge recruiting site for athletes and coaches. We have taken the constraints and frustrations of men’s and women’s coaches and provided them with a lacrosse forum within which to search, research, locate, assess and recruit the right male and female players for their teams. Player information is provided thoroughly and conveniently online. But it is what coaches can do with those authenticated player profiles that is unique to the recruiting world.

Coaches appreciate the ability to specify recruiting criteria down to strategic detail—not just playing statistics and academic information, but NLC test scores as well. Coaches can easily tailor their searches to find, for instance, an Attack with SAT s over 1700, a GPA above 3.0, clearing accuracy of greater than 75%, 300 shuttle speed of less than ___ and shooting accuracy of greater than 50%. Then, they can compare several of the registered athletes located side-by-side (up to five), before deciding what recruiting resources to commit.

We have tried to make the difficult recruiting part of their coaching jobs easier. In so doing, we have also made athletes’ chances for recruitment improve dramatically.

ONLINE RECRUITING PROFILES INCREASE EXPOSURE AND POTENTIAL —
NLC has seen how male and female high school athletes actively market themselves to college coaches, in an attempt to play collegiate lacrosse. We have made that process better. Off the bat, NLC profiles are the most complete online recruiting profiles available. They can be edited and updated at any time. When possible, the inclusion of National Lacrosse Combine testing data gives coaches all the answers they need to decide how to proceed with a prospective recruit.

When interested in a program, NLC-registered athletes are able to contact coaches with direct links to their personal Profile pages. This includes video highlights embedded on their profile page. This way, communications are conducted quicker and without the burden of mailing physical packages (which create mountains on coaches’ desks). Registered athletes’ emails are received by coaches as athlete@NationalLacrosseCombin.com. This qualification provides a level of authentication in and of itself. For athletes who fit those coaches’ recruiting parameters, the process is underway.

In addition, coaches are actively searching on the NLC site. When their search criteria turn up athletes who are registered users, those athletes’ Profiles can be viewed by interested coaches as well, even though those athletes may not have known that they could be candidates for various other programs. NLC provides an efficient, two-way electronic street. Coaches’ possibilities for prospective athletes increase when athletes’ numbers match theirs. And athletes’ chances for recruitment improve when their credentials meet coaches’ search criteria. It’s a numbers game. And greater exposure means better numbers for athletes looking to play college lacrosse.

INFORMATION AGE ALLOWS FOR AN INFORMED PROCESS —
Once athletes complete their Personal Profile Pages and Coaches input their specific recruiting criteria, the NLC database starts making matches and alerts. Athletes can find schools meeting their desires, and coaches can find players suiting their needs.

When a coach registers, he or she automatically receives a list of players matching their inputs. And when a newly-added athlete registers for the site, a coach will receive email notification from us if that new athlete is also a match. So, coaches don’t have to be actively looking on the site all the time to know when an athlete is worth considering. NLC helps coaches find qualified athletes wherever and whenever possible.

ATHLETES CAN SEARCH FOR SCHOOLS TOO —
Because lacrosse programs are being added every year to colleges around the country, it is hard for athletes to keep up with all their options. NLC provides the latest information on every inter-collegiate program in the country, including contact information for men’s and women’s coaches. Athletes are able to do quick searches by school name or coach name. Or, they can search by State, Division and men’s or women’s program. Knowing everything that is available also improves an athlete’s chances to play in college. And that is the goal, isn’t it?

ADDITIONAL RECRUITING RESOURCES —
To help male and female athletes present themselves in their best light, NLC has incorporated several additional resources into the recruiting website. For one, athletes can send in video for us to make highlight reels for their Personal Profile page. We are also working on the additional ability for an athlete to easily upload their “Latest&Greatest” highlight clip onto their page. In addition to editing and updating their Personal Profile Page, athletes can replace this quick clip as often as they see fit.

Fairness, Understanding, Acceptance. Parents can help their kids find these in the right coaching staff by understanding the recruiting process themselves. For one thing, parents can facilitate bringing coaches and athletes together, even when coaches have constraints on time and resources. And NLC can assist parents to that end with standardized Combine data, comprehensive online profiles, and personalized recruiting services that show athletes in their best light.
